IMDA TS vs ESER

IMDA has moved some low-power devices from TS to the ESER (Enhanced Simplified Equipment Registration) fast path:

ESER fast path

Pure BLE/Wi-Fi 2.4 GHz products: provide CE/FCC test reports and an online declaration. No local testing. Timeline 1-2 weeks.

IMDA TS

Full type approval for cellular, high-power or complex devices. SAC-accredited lab testing. Timeline 4-6 weeks.

CPS Safety Registration

The Consumer Protection (Safety Requirements) Regulations require 45 categories of controlled consumer goods to be registered with Enterprise Singapore and carry the SAFETY Mark.

Can I apply with CE/FCC reports?

Yes. The ESER fast path accepts CE/FCC reports for low-power Bluetooth/Wi-Fi devices. IMDA TS may need supplementary testing at an accredited lab.

How do I renew an IMDA certificate?

IMDA TS certificates are valid 5 years. Apply for renewal 3 months before expiry. If parameters are unchanged, renewal is document-only — no retest.

Does a battery device need CPS?

Pure battery products (earphones, power banks) are not on the CPS list. But a bundled power adapter is in scope and needs separate registration.

Is a local agent required?

Yes. Both IMDA and CPS require a Singapore-registered company as applicant. Keep the agent active for renewals and changes.
