As Pinduoduo's cross-border e-commerce platform, Temu grew explosively from 2023, and through 2024-2025 significantly tightened its compliance review. A large number of sellers got their listings directly taken down — or even had funds frozen — because of "incomplete credentials". This article maps out the certification requirements across Temu's stores, so you can sell steadily and avoid delisting.

Why is Temu so strict about certification?

Three reasons: first, US/EU regulators (FCC, EU market surveillance) pressure platforms directly; second, as Temu expanded from "full consignment" to "semi-consignment", part of the compliance responsibility shifted onto sellers; third, in 2024-2025 Temu was repeatedly exposed in the US media over product-safety issues, so the platform had to tighten review.

The practical result: the days of "list first, supply the certificate later" are gone. Now Temu nearly requires compliance documents to be submitted at the time of listing for electronic products.

Temu US store: three certifications, none optional

Temu's US store requirements for electronics basically align with Amazon US, but the enforcement is harsher — Amazon gives you an appeal window; Temu sometimes just bans outright.

CertificationApplies toMandatory?Notes
FCC SDOCAll electronics (non-wireless)✅ MandatoryNeed FCC SDOC test report + declaration of conformity
FCC IDBluetooth/WiFi/wireless products✅ MandatoryMust have an FCC ID that can be found on the FCC website
UL/ETLPower adapters, chargers⚠️ Platform requirementTemu requires NRTL safety certification for mains-powered products
CPCChildren's products (including kids' headphones, etc.)✅ MandatoryCPC certificate from a CPSC-recognised lab
California Prop 65All consumer goods⚠️ Strongly advisedWithout the label you risk consumer lawsuits
Special attention:Temu's reviewers actually go to the FCC website to check whether your FCC ID is valid. If the ID can't be found, or the applicant doesn't match your shop entity, at minimum the listing is taken down, at worst your selling permission is frozen. Buying a ready-made FCC ID to piggyback on is extremely risky.

Temu EU store: RED + LVD + environmental trio

Temu's EU store covers Germany, France, Spain, Italy and many more, and all electronics must meet EU CE requirements.

CertificationApplies toMandatory?Notes
CE-REDBluetooth/WiFi/wireless products✅ MandatoryNeed RED test report + DoC + EU rep info
CE-EMC+LVDNon-radio products✅ MandatoryEMC test + safety test + DoC
CE-RoHSAll electronics✅ MandatorySix hazardous-substance tests
CE-REACHProducts containing chemicals✅ MandatorySVHC substances of very high concern tests
WEEEAll electronics✅ MandatoryNeed a German WEEE registration number (EAR)
EU repAll CE products✅ MandatoryNeed an authorised representative within the EU

Tip:Temu's EU store currently cares most about three things: ①WEEE registration (especially Germany), ②EU rep info (must be on the packaging/label), ③CE mark + DoC. Missing any one of these, the listing won't pass review.

Temu UK store: UKCA can't be skipped

Post-Brexit Britain built its own independent UKCA system. Temu's UK store requires electronics to meet UKCA requirements:

  • Wireless products:UKCA-RED (citing UK S.I. 2017/1206)
  • Connected products:must meet the PSTI cybersecurity act (mandatory from April 2024)
  • Power products:UKCA-LVD safety
  • All electronics:UK RoHS
  • UK rep:need an authorised representative within the UK

The 4 common Temu pitfalls

Pitfall 1: Using your supplier's FCC ID directly

Many sellers think "if my supplier has an FCC ID, I'll just use it". But Temu compares the applicant company on the documents against your shop entity. If they don't match, it's ruled "false credentials". The right approach: apply for the FCC ID in your own company name (using a Grantee Code), or have the supplier issue a formal authorisation letter.

Pitfall 2: CE reports in Chinese

Temu's review team is in Europe and can't read Chinese reports. All test reports, certificates and DoCs submitted to Temu must be in English. Chinese versions get bounced outright.

Pitfall 3: Registering WEEE but not renewing

German EAR WEEE registration is annual. Many sellers register the first year and forget to renew, so the WEEE number gets cancelled. Temu spot-checks WEEE validity every quarter — if the number is found invalid, all German-store listings come down.

Pitfall 4: CPC not from a CPSC-recognised lab

Children's products (including Bluetooth earphones/speakers judged as cute kids' products) need a CPC certificate on the US store. Temu explicitly requires the CPC to come from a CPSC-recognised third-party lab. Reports from ordinary domestic labs aren't accepted.

Practical advice

  1. Don't wait to be delisted before supplying certificates.A Temu relisting review takes longer than the initial one, and traffic lost in peak season far exceeds the certification cost.
  2. Apply for your own FCC ID.Get a Grantee Code in your own company name to avoid the ID failing when the supplier changes.
  3. Don't skimp on EU/UK reps.A few thousand RMB a year of service fee is nothing compared to delisting and lost sales.
  4. Set an auto-renewal reminder for WEEE.Renew at least a month ahead each year to avoid the number lapsing.
  5. Go down the checklist item by item before listing.Using the per-store tables above, confirm everything and submit once for a pass.
